Executive director’s message

Dear audience, students, and staff,

It is my great pleasure to welcome you all to the official website of Bensa Daye Campus, Hawassa University. The campus began its teaching-learning activities in November 2018 with an initial enrollment of 314 regular students. Since then, Bensa Daye Campus has has continued to play an active role in teaching-learning, research and community services.

Currently, the campus offers eight regular bachelor’s degree programs, including Agro-economics, Agri-Business and Value Chain Management, Plant Science, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, English Language and Literature, and Computer Science. 

Bensa Daye area is one of the renowned specialty coffee–producing areas of our country and the campus is committed to enhancing its research and technology transfer -  capacity to support local productivity. Through strong community engagement and the preparation of competent, skilled graduates, the campus aims to contribute meaningfully to regional development.

Bensa Daye area is also known for its significant geological resources, which require further study and responsible utilization for the benefit of local communities and the nation at large. In response, the campus plans to expand its academic programs in Geology and Mining, with the goal of producing highly skilled graduates equipped with strong practical knowledge in these fields.

Driven by labor market needs and national development priorities, the campus also intends to broaden its undergraduate offerings in Agriculture, Business and Economics, Health Sciences, Technology and Natural and Computational Sciences.

Furthermore, the campus envisions gradually launching graduate programs in Agriculture, Natural and Computational Science and Social Sciences. These expansions are aligned with Hawassa University’s differentiation strategy and long term institutional goals.

The vision of Bensa Daye Campus emanates from that of our University, to be one of the Best Universities in Africa. As one of the young campuses in our university, Bensa Daye campus have lots of aspirations an inspirations and would like to call our existing and prospective students to join us with enthusiasm in your fields of interest. is rooted in the broader vision of Hawassa University—to become one of the leading universities in Africa.
